Who We Are
In January of 2009, I was on a mission trip in Thailand, visiting a refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border. The camp housed 17,000 people, all in flimsy bamboo huts with teak leaves for shingles.
After a long but rewarding day, we walked back to our lodging and saw three young children all preschool aged. When I looked into their eyes, I was suddenly overwhelmed. Compassion flooded my heart and never left. In that moment, I knew I’d be doing something to help them.
After a year of prayer and discussion we set out to build bridges of hope for children in Thailand, and Hope Bridges was born.
Fast forward to today. We’re currently serving over one-hundred children with food, clothing, education, and basic health care. We also help these kids learn to navigate around the dangers of their environment, including drug abuse and human trafficking issues. Our goal is to prepare them to thrive in the real world.
When a child knows where their next meal will come from, and sees the love of God in action, their hearts and minds are open. The hearts and minds of an entire community open up, too!
Want to see love, joy, and peace in action? Come with us to Thailand and meet the kids! Run with them as you play chase or takraw.

Hello, I’m Mike Lane the Executive Director and Founder of Hope Bridges. After working in the computer industry, God called me to Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and I was a pastor for about fifteen years. I have been an Associate Pastor, Solo Pastor, and Missions Pastor. Then a few years ago Thailand called, and I love serving as the hands and feet of Christ—that’s why Hope Bridges exists!
